Kamut International Recognized as Montana's Exporter of the Year

Press Release

Big Sandy, MT March, 2011 – Kamut International was recently named the Montana State Exporter of the Year for 2010. At an event on Friday, March 4th, as part of the Global Trade Day celebrations, Montana’s Lieutenant Governor John Bohlinger presented the award to Kamut International CEO Trevor Blyth. “Increased production and growing sales are great,” said Blyth, “but to be recognized for our contributions right here in Montana is a real honor for us.” The award signifies Montana’s, the nation’s leading organic wheat producer, appreciation to the organization for furthering the state’s commitment to organic and sustainable farming.
2010 was a great year for Kamut International. The organization saw healthy growth in sales in the United States and international markets. KAMUT® Brand khorasan wheat is now sold throughout North America and Europe, in Japan and Australia and recently moved into the South American and South African markets. Kamut International exported over 27 million pounds of the organically grown ancient wheat in 2010, with a growth in sales of approximately 40 percent. Italy remains the largest market for KAMUT® brand products, accounting for almost half of all sales.
With increased production and continued growth in demand, 2011 should be another great year for Kamut International. Evidenced by this award from the state of Montana, it is clear they have a trusted and supportive partner in their local community.
Kamut International was nominated for the Montana Exporter of the Year Award by Sara Warren of the Montana Department of Commerce. The Global Trade Day event was sponsored by the Montana Chamber of Commerce, Montana World Trade Center, Montana Department of Commerce, Montana Department of Agriculture, Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, Montana District Export Council and U.S. Department of Commerce.
